I always love the anticipation of new restaurants each season. I know that a lot of people hate how quickly things turn over and locals wish big city restaurants would stop pushing out the small guys.
But honestly, I love it all.
I love the anticipation... the he-said-she-said... I love driving by a space trying to figure it out as they transform it into something new.
I love trying it for the first time and trying to guess how successful they’ll be.
Here are three new spots I’ve had my eye on that I can’t wait to check out this summer:
La Fin Kitchen, Montauk
In the Swallow East spot on the docks, this place looks beautifully done and with delicious food! Maybe it’s just that I’m older & not partying as much, but I’m excited to check out the new, more upscale residents in this MTK hot spot.
East Hampton Point
This one is under new ownership and getting a major facelift. Driving by, they’re gutting the hotel rooms and based on their website it looks like THREE different restaurants are taking shape. Fingers crossed at least one has better food and service than the last restaurant to live there. (IYKYK)
Rita Cantina
Going in the beloved Michael’s spot right by Maidstone park in Springs— their sign promises happy hours, bonfires and tacos. From the looks of it, another gut renovation inside and I can’t wait to try it out. Rumor is they’re opening Memorial Day Weekend!
