A New Reason to Stop in East Hampton Village: The Walter Hagen Pop-Up Is Here

There's something happening on Park Place this week, and I think you're going to love it.

On Thursday, May 14, Walter Hagen is opening a pop-up shop right in the heart of East Hampton Village at 34 Park Place — and the timing couldn't feel more fitting. With the 126th U.S. Open Championship returning to Shinnecock Hills this summer, golf is having a real moment out here, and this store is leaning into it beautifully.

Worth noting: the product here is genuinely distinct from what you'll find anywhere else in the village. We're talking dedicated golf apparel, tour-quality equipment, and U.S. Open licensed pieces — a category that simply hasn't had a home in East Hampton until now. This isn't overlap with existing local shops; it's something new filling a real gap.

The space runs through June 28 and is stocked with premium men's and women's golf apparel from Walter Hagen, including limited-release U.S. Open licensed pieces you won't find anywhere else. Maxfli is also in the mix — tour-quality golf balls, bags, and gloves — and this will actually be the first place to carry Maxfli's newest ball, the Tour X-LS. If you have a golfer in your life (or you are the golfer), this is worth a stop.

The Grand Opening: Thursday, May 14 | 11 AM – 6 PM

The opening is free and open to the public — no ticket needed.

From 4 to 6 PM, there's a Hagen Happy Hour with tastings curated by Sagaponack Farm Distillery, which feels very right for a May afternoon in East Hampton. Expect giveaways, exclusive product moments, and a live DJ. Think less ribbon cutting, more actual celebration

What's Coming All Season Long

The pop-up isn't a one-and-done. They've built out a full calendar of programming through June, and it's genuinely interesting:

Ball Customization (May 14 – June 28)

Free with the purchase of 12 or more Maxfli golf balls — choose from over 200 pre-loaded designs. A great gift idea, honestly.

Meet & Greet with Sean Foley (June 5)

World-renowned golf instructor and Maxfli brand ambassador Sean Foley will be in the store for a live masterclass, personalized Q&A, and refreshments. Whether you play or just appreciate the craft, this one is worth putting on the calendar.

Live Podcast Taping with Ben Griffin (June 15)

The Fried Egg podcast is taping live in-store, featuring current world-ranked No. 14 golfer and Maxfli ambassador Ben Griffin — right in the lead-up to the U.S. Open. That's a pretty special thing to walk into on a Sunday afternoon.

Finnegan's Foursome Screening at Guild Hall (June 17)

A first-look screening of the new film Finnegan's Foursome, followed by a fireside chat with director Ed Burns. This one has nothing to do with buying anything — it's just a great evening out.

The Bigger Picture

The pop-up is part of a rotating concept that will evolve all summer. After the golf chapter wraps on June 28, the space transitions to CALIA (July 2 – August 23) with a coastal, summer-inspired women's lifestyle and swim collection — and then to DSG's Back to Sport takeover (August 27 – October 18) for the back-to-school season.

It's a smart use of a beautiful space, and I love that they're partnering with local businesses and building a real community calendar around it. That's the Hamptons at its best — not just a place to shop, but a place to gather.
