Read moreGiving Back to the Community with Amber Waves' Holiday Fundraiser
The holiday season is the time of the year that highlights the importance of giving back to the community. One great way to do that is by supporting local organizations that have a positive impact on people's lives, such as Amber Waves Farm. Amber Waves is a beloved institution in the Hamptons that not only grows fresh produce but also trains farmers and educates children on sustainable agriculture. As they prepare for the upcoming season, they are calling on the community to support their Holiday Fundraiser.
Amber Waves was founded 15 years ago by Katie Baldwin and Amanda Merrow, with just one acre of farmland. Over the years, they have grown into a 33-acre vertically integrated farm that provides fresh produce to the community through their CSA program and farmers' markets. They also educate aspiring farmers through their Apprenticeship Program, which has trained four farmers this year alone. I always say, these ladies get it. They have created something so special and magical in our community and it has been amazing to watch the farm grow and evolve over the years.
But their impact extends beyond the farm. Amber Waves has also built an outdoor classroom that has hosted more than 10,000 children for hands-on learning experiences on sustainable agriculture. Our kids are OBSESSED with the outdoor classroom and I love seeing all the local schools take classes their on field trips. Plus, they have also donated tens of thousands of pounds of food to local food pantries.
To continue their work, Amber Waves is hosting a Holiday Fundraiser, with different donation levels: $25 to sponsor seeds for future harvests, $50 for supplies to support their children's programs, and $100 for the area of greatest need. Every donation counts, and the community's support is vital to keeping Amber Waves thriving.
But the fundraiser is not just an opportunity to give back; it also offers a chance to learn more about Amber Waves and sustainable agriculture. For instance, did you know that they grew hundreds of thousands of pounds of food this year for their CSA members and the community? Or that over 60,000 people have visited the farm and market over the past year? These are just some of the fun facts that showcase the organization's impact.
The holiday season is the perfect time to support local organizations that are making a difference in our communities. Amber Waves is one of those organizations, and their Holiday Fundraiser presents an opportunity to give back and learn more about sustainable agriculture. By donating to their fundraiser, you are not only supporting their work but also investing in a more sustainable, equitable, and local food system. You are contributing to a better future for all of us.
They are running the fundraiser on Instagram and you can find a direct link in my IG profile bio by clicking here.
Thank you for your support and Happy Holidays!
