3 Hamptons Openings That Flew Under the Radar This Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend didn't exactly deliver on the weather front. Most people spent more time watching the radar than actually being outside. But while the skies were doing their thing, a few openings happened quietly — and they're worth knowing about before summer really gets going.

New York Pilates, Sag Harbor

New York Pilates opened their largest Hamptons studio this weekend in Sag Harbor, and it's a big one — 26 reformers, which by Hamptons standards means you might actually get a class without a waitlist. If you're not familiar with the New York Pilates method, it's their own approach, distinct from classical pilates, and it has a serious following for a reason. The Sag Harbor location makes it genuinely accessible for the South Fork, and the studio itself is the kind of space that makes you want to show up consistently. If you've been curious about the method but haven't had a reason to try it, you do now.

Montaukila Tasting Room, Montauk

Montaukila opened a tasting room in Montauk this weekend, and I have a feeling this one becomes a summer staple fast. Daily tequila tastings, a growing events calendar, and the kind of easy, good-energy vibe that Montauk does well when it's not trying too hard. It's the sort of spot that works for a late afternoon stop before dinner or a reason to linger a little longer on the East End. Worth bookmarking now before the word gets out.

Bar Lalo, Montauk

This is the one I'm most excited about. Bar Lalo comes from the Alimentari team — if you've eaten there, you already trust the instincts behind it — and they're bringing Mexico City-style tacos to Montauk. Montauk has never had a shortage of nightlife, but a genuine Mexico City taco concept? That's actually new. The combination of that pedigree and that format feels right for the East End right now. I'll report back once I've been in person, but this one is already on my list.

The Takeaway

MDW wasn't what most of us planned for. But these three openings are a good reminder that the best parts of a Hamptons summer tend to arrive quietly, without a lot of fanfare. Save this post. Come back to it when the sun finally shows up — and it will.

Which one are you most curious about? I'd love to know in the comments.
